DJ.RedLox Radio Biography

Dj.RedLox was born William A. Moore II in Chicago, Illinois to Sharon A. Booth and P.G. Moore who met in college and moved to the city from Northern Michigan. He is of Irish and Scottish decent as well as Native American and is a card carrying member of the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians. He spent his early years shuffling from neighbor to neighbor due to his Father's job that required him being gone for long periods of time and his mother's unfortunate death from cancer related to their home's water well being poisoned with factory chemical runoff. He took advantage of the free time allowed to him in the absence of a stable family situation and began writing at an early age as well as promoting parties and playing night clubs to earn extra money. He attended Downer's Grove North High School and landed a radio show there at the age of 13, the following year he would play his first paid gig as a drummer for Chicago punk band Jimmy Square Foot.

Staying with family and friends while he was growing up opened him up to a variety of musical tastes including Hip Hop, Punk Rock, New Wave, Soul, House etc. He was mentored at his radio station by Chicago's on Air Dj Bobby D who taught him how to splice tapes and produce radio shows as well as take him to "Imports" Chicago's legendary record store for his first time and give him features opening at parties where the likes of Bad Boy Bill would play. He would later form the rap group Too Much Control with his child hood friends that would take him to George's Music Room on Roosevelt Ave. at just 15 to record their first single. He was later approached by Funkmaster Farley to sign a production deal when he was 18 but he declined because he wanted to further his schooling and he would soon have a baby on the way with his long time girlfriend.

Raising a family meant dropping out of college and finding work. He did several different jobs during the day and performed at night holding down his first weekly DJ residency at the Elbo Room playing Reggae along side Kool Rock Steady. He would later go on to be a major factor in Chicago's Underground Reggae scene giving many local dj's their start at his famous Lava Lounge Night that became legendary and frequented by famous actors, musicians and athletes. It wasn't just reggae he excelled at he soon pioneered the Chicago world music scene headlining the biggest Indian, Arabic, Brazilian, and Latino parties.

He recently returned from a year long tour in Asia writing, recording, and performing in Bali and Thailand where he became inspired by the Asian EDM and Reggae scene.
