Morna Biography

Morna, is a progressive/melodic death metal band from Nova Dubnica, Slovakia. Originally founded in 2010, when Robo was attached to previously functioning duo Michael and Kubo, who had an idea to form a band and had some basic material for songs. Together they have made important deeds, which provided whole concept of Morna – specified their “path” in music and also individual stances in relation to Morna. Last missing person was bass guitarist, who showed up cassually. Tomas heard some of our demo material and despite of he didn´t have any bass equipment, he wanted to play with them.

Their music is hard to categorize. Since each band member listens to different bands/genres, it turns out into various parts of the songs. Band combines dark growl with a clean vocals, melodic parts are alternating into heavy riffs. This makes the unique sound of the band, which you´ll have to hear!

In summer 2012 Morna started recording and one year later, in July 2013 debut album A Tale of Woe was officialy released. In February 2014 album „A Tale of Woe“ was nominated in category „Hard and Heavy“ for „Record of the year 2013“ in Radio Head Awards. With debut album was band touring in many Slovak, Czech and Polish cities. Also they ended up second in Wacken Metal Battle Slovakia for the year 2015.
During summer 2015 had been band recording second studio album. "Nuisance" was released in December later that year and was subsequently nominated in category „Hard and Heavy“ for „Record of the year 2015“ in Radio Head Awards. This time it turned out well and album won the category.
