Phyllis Chapell

Phyllis Chapell started off as a solo performer and then joined forces with Dan Kleiman to form the world jazz ensemble SIORA. Upon Dan Kleiman's death in 2010, Phyllis Chapell has continued with SIORA, but also has branched out to play with other ensembles and to play solo and duo performances. Collaborations include performances with the Hot Club of Philadelphia (gypsy jazz) and the Ken Ulansey Whirled Music Ensemble. She played on November 10, 2012, at Carnegie Hall with Intercultural Journeys (with Philadelphia Orchestra members Udi Bar-David, Ricardo Morales, and Chinese violinist Jeibing Chen and Syrian/Venezuelan percussionist Hafez Eli-Ali Kotain). She has been working for the past few years in collaboration with Emmy-award winning composer/arranger/producer/ videographer Rodney Whittenberg on videos and a new CD called "Naked World" which has been submitted for Grammy consideration in 2016.
