Depuis quasi 25 ans, Mike a contribué à de nombreux projets, aussi bien sur disque (en tant que musicien ou producteur) que sur scène, parmi lesquels les Wooden Stars, The Luyas, Bell Orchestre, Camille Delean, Thus Owls, Paper Beat Scissors, Land of Talk, Julie Doiron et bien d'autres. En solo, sous le nom de Snailhouse, puis sous son propre nom depuis quelques années, il construit patiemment de belles chansons tordues et magnifiques qui sont chacune des perles de songwriting underground, habitée par son jeu de guitare limpide et sa voix simple et touchante. Chaque membre est un musicien expérimenté, voué à la création de cette musique profondément mélancolique, quelque part entre slowcore, folk noir et post-rock. Il en sort des chansons sobres, lugubres et parfois hantées avec des chants tourmentés rappelant ceux de Palace Brothers / Will Oldham, Idaho et Low. Pour donner corps une fois de plus à ce riche univers, ils sont entrés studio avec un certain… Michael Feuerstack. Michael Feuerstack Biography

Michael Feuerstack is a celebrated musician, songwriter, producer and mixer based in Montréal, QC. In his three decades-long presence in the musical world, he has penned a deluge of records, collaborated with countless internationally renowned talents, and impressed all who encounter his work. His curiosity, musicality, and agility across genres are plain to see. Feuerstack’s solo career (formerly under the name Snailhouse), is a prime example of this. These are songs that simultaneously comfort and confront. In both lyrics and music, Feuerstack seamlessly passes from traditional to experimental. This willingness to engage in both the contemporary and the traditional has resulted in a staggering body of work, beloved to many. His varied ongoing pursuits reflect a relentless appetite for growth, and a responsiveness to change, reflecting a youthful curiosity, as well as a respect for the greats. In all of this, Feuerstack strikes a musical balance that pays the highest respect to the listener.

Feuerstack’s artistic partnerships include composition and instrumental contributions to Julie Doiron and the Wooden Stars, Bell Orchestre, the Luyas, and many more. For this work he has earned two Junos and a number of other accolades. He is equally known for his exquisite collaborative work with choreographer Katie Ward, which has delighted the dance and music worlds alike. Beyond this he has demonstrated a commitment to involvement in his community; producing and mixing albums for both internationally regarded artists as well as for young artists emerging on the scene. Feuerstack is first and foremost a true artist. He is a tireless creator, collaborator, a seeker of stories to tell, and new ways to tell them.
