About this concert
By
Elle Carroll
The Head and the Heart can break up whenever it pleases — the band is already immortalized by way of
“Rivers and Roads,” a bleeding-heart cut from its 2011 debut album (with a hell of a crescendo) that was
featured on multiple TV shows swinging for the emotional-impact fences (including, but not limited to,
New Girl, How I Met Your Mother and the series finale of Chuck). Nowadays the Seattle folk band is
riding the release of its fourth album, Living Mirage, a slickly produced record that doesn’t pass off as
folk. The trademark harmonies are still there, but the group has gone undeniably pop — so much so that
Elton John’s “Candle in the Wind” is an audible touchstone on “Saving Grace.”
