Live Acts Canada Presents: Here North There with + Jamie Ruddick + Zeb Duggan + Adam Briscoe Here North There (Vancouver) // https://www.facebook.com/herenorththere The musical journey of Here North There could be described as dualistic: a quiet cabin and a buzzing city, wide prairie and open ocean, nostalgia and never looking back. These contrasting forces appear throughout the work of Canadian singer-songwriter Chris Altrogge, who began performing under the name Here North There in 2016. After a move from the Saskatchewan prairies to New York City, Chris took up busking as a way to test drive new material. Today, the sound of the project is still indicative of the environment it was first crafted for: the New York subway. Here North There’s unique blend of indie-folk can be recognized by vocals projected to compete with rattling trains, guitar arranged to fill cavernous platforms, and lyrics written to catch the fleeting attention of passersby. Audiences will hear each of these traits mirrored by gentler melodies, smooth instrumentals, and reflective storytelling. Here North There is currently performing as an acoustic three-piece, featuring Sam Milner on violin and Terence Wendenburg on percussion. Laced with sparkly synth and 80’s bass lines, his sound embodies sunshine and everything blissful. Zeb Duggan (Vancouver) Adam Briscoe (Vancouver) // https://www.facebook.com/ABriscoeMusic Adam Briscoe started like any musician, just singing in his room not thinking anything of it. Until someone in his class told him to give singing an actual shot and to get up on stage. After a fair amount of convincing, he did, and from there on he has never looked back. In the years that followed, Adam paid his dues in small Fraser Valley Coffee shops and spent time penning tunes in his room. “I was a hermit in high school - I actually cut myself off from my friends and just stuck to my music”. Although he experimented with a variety of sounds (even spending some time as a Michael Jackson impersonator) it wasn’t until he met producer Cory Woodward (The Lion The Bear The Fox) that he arrived somewhere that sounded like home. The two spent 2014-15 crafting a sound that defines Adam as an artist. Sombre lyrics blended with upbeat guitars and fuzzy hooks to form an infectious blend of heart-on-sleeve pop that calls to mind The Beatles, John Mayer and Joshua Radin. Since recording his debut album “Something Here”, Adam has taken some time to reflect on what he wants out of a life and as a musician. Going to the U.K, and playing at the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool! With the impending release of his debut EP “Something Here” and a supporting tour to follow, Adam has moved his life and his aspirations to Vancouver, B.C. 2019 promises to be the year Adam Briscoe becomes a household name.
