Hold your horses! Biography

You might search your entire record collection, but you will surely not find any equivalent to the music played by Hold Your Horses! Some compare them to Arcade Fire, but readily admit that this is much more fun; others, those who prefer dancing and singing, will dive headfirst in this enthusiastic and colourful pop alchemy. First noticed in 2010 with the brilliant video for their song 70 Million, which offered a new take on the history of art by incorporating band members in famous paintings, HYH! Has since then given many outstanding concerts, from Saint-Malo (La Route du Rock) all the way to the American East Coast. After two elegant EPs, the sextet headed by two Franco-Americans who live in Paris, has finally recorded its first album. Grains de Beauté should soon be released, but the Disquaire Day 2014 will see a first glimpse being revealed. If Your Fall evokes a miniature pop symphony, it is first and foremost an irresistible melodic prowess, catchy and throbbing (that bass line!) with just the right amount of melancholy. That is surely what so enthralled the witnesses of their concert inside the Saint-Eustache Church during their set at the 36h de Saint-Eustache Festival. The remix by Vendège is more sparse, with most of the guitars disappearing. He has however retained the bittersweet essence and the catchiness of the original track and even manages to push the rhythmic trickery further. Some of the artists from Warp Records could well be jealous of his performance. Alaok, for its part, is closer to indie rock from 90s, though it preserves space for long, introspective instrumentals. All these ingredients are unexpected, but after all great glimmering and colourful pop has never existed without fantasy and audacity. www.holdyourhorses.fr Contact: holdyourhorses.theband@hotmail.com
