A family trio, the two Hong sisters with Soo-Kyung’s husband, have grown in their approach and craft, lending their lush playing to Beethoven’s enduring piano trio, with its eerie second movement and brooding presence, and to Shostakovich’s lamentation on the untimely death of his closest and dearest friend. Schubert’s famous piano quintet, “The Trout” will include two other musicians, Ivo-Jan van der Werff and Tim Pitts, both outstanding faculty members of the Shepherd School of Music.
