Aces Wild Biography

"We're country, but we identify as Rock & Roll" -Ace Are they country? Well, that’s really hard to say...... You see, Aces Wild is made up of four musicians, all with different backgrounds in music, but with a common goal to make music their own way, and make it awesome...... It’s easy to look at a picture of Aces Wild and think of them as a “country” band. After all, on Lead Vocals and Acoustic Guitar is black hat wearing front man Ace Murray. Ace grew up on country music and spent a good portion of his music career on stage in Music City......Nashville, Tennessee, but don’t be fooled by that. Ace had the typical influences you hear country artists talk about like Merle Haggard and George Jones, but he also lists Aerosmith, AC/DC, and ZZ-Top among his favorites.... “I am influenced by everything I hear and I love all styles of music, so the sky is the limit, but rest assured, I can get as country as a biscuit if I need to...” Take a look behind the Drums and you’ll find co-founder of the band, Randy Thacker. Randy has done it all, really. Metal, classic rock, blues, country and the list goes on and on. Having such a well-rounded background is essential when faced with the “not-so-country” songs that Aces Wild is known for pulling out without warning. A chance encounter at a small club in Roseburg, OR where Ace was playing became the catalyst that put the band together. It all happened with one sentence, “Dude, my drums are set up in my living-room and I have a PA system, we should jam sometime....” Also present and playing that night in the club was Lead Guitarist, James Gambill. It was actually a pretty impromptu show for a mutual friend’s birthday, but anyone there can tell you, something special was going on. James had never really played country music, but jumped in and played what he felt, and it worked. With a strong background in classic rock and jazz, there was nothing typical about the “country” songs being played, but they did seem to take on a life of their own and that became the basis for the Aces Wild sound...... Officially joining the band in April 2014, Jerod Hurtienne on bass guitar and vocals is also one-third of the very popular trio "Not Penny's Boat". Jerod has been the "go to" backup for quite some time so when Lisa Long left the band, the decision was made to offer the spot to Jerod and thankfully, he accepted. Jerod is a multi-talented musician and very proficient on several instruments, including bass, guitar, drums and vocals so don't be surprised if you see a little switcharoo from time to time.... The band is very excited with this new addition and is looking forward to what he will add to the show!!! So, are they country? You’ll have to be the judge of that. The only thing certain is that Aces Wild is a high-energy band that puts on a great show and makes sure you have as much fun as they do, so be ready to party!!! Available for events of all kinds.....except weddings
