Altstadt Echo

Praised by SPIN Magazine as bringing the “avant-garde element to Detroit techno,” 27-year old Altstadt Echo has made an immediate impact on the American techno scene in his early years. After performing at the Movement Electronic Music Festival in 2014, Altstadt launched his own deep and experimental techno label Modern Cathedrals, announced by Resident Advisor with a feature article. In addition to having his original works remixed by legendary techno artists such as Terrence Dixon, Donor, and Jeff Derringer, he’s shared the stage with notable figures such as Regis, Silent Servant, Vatican Shadow, Veronica Vasicka, and more. But he hasn’t limited himself to production and performance; over the last two years, he’s organized an astounding eighteen events in the Detroit area (three of which were given the distinction of being Official Movement afterparties) featuring headliners ranging from Rrose to Shifted. In 2017, he looks forward to releasing two additional EPs on his own label (featuring remixes by Abdulla Rashim, Stave, and others) as well as two releases on the Interdimensional Transmissions sublabel Eye Teeth.
