About Nathan Bartgis

Raised on a farm in eastern West Virginia, Nathan Bartgis picked up a guitar in September 2014 at the age of 22 after accepting Jesus Christ as his savior, and taught himself how to play, sing, and write. With the influences of artist like Jamey Johnson, George Strait, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and others, he began accumulating a catalog of his own originals.

After playing a couple years of solo gigs, doing originals and covers in local bars and for parties, Nathan attracted the attention of two musicians who were looking for someone with original material to play with. Robbie Burkhart (Harmonica) and T.L. Bartles (Guitar) soon joined Nathan doing shows in the local area. The group then landed lead guitarist Alex Sellars from Georgia. After a handful of other musicians coming and going, the group finally connected with drummer Troy Keller, and bass guitarist Chris Houck. The entire group resides in Berkeley County in WV.

Along the way T.L. Bartles sent a video of Nathan singing his original “That Kinda Man” to a friend on Facebook named Beverly. This started the ball rolling, and in December 2018 Nathan was standing in the studios of Ocean Way Nashville at the invite of Beverly Gosdin Jenkins, wife of the late Vern Gosdin.

Beverly and Buddy Hyatt co-produced his first 2 original songs with the Nashville A-Team of musicians. The 2 songs were “Snakebite” and “Cold and Lonesome”, both were released to a few select radio outlets on January 26th 2019. After a great response, the single “Cold and Lonesome” was then released worldwide through Cashbox on January 31st 2019. “Cold and Lonesome” began climbing Cashbox’s monthly charts and by July of 2019 reached #1.

Nathan returned to Nashville and Ocean Way to cut 4 more original songs to complete a 6 song EP album titled “That Kinda Man”. One of those songs “Coming Home” was then released to Radio in March through Cashbox Worldwide as well as CDX Nashville, and is now climbing on 3 different Cashbox charts. With 2 songs charting, Nathan was featured on the cover of the May 29th issue of Record World Magazine.

This caught the attention of a radio station director in MD., who invited Nathan and the guys to open for the Charlie Daniel’s Band, at the beautiful and historic Wienberg Center in Fredrick, MD. This was the highest of honors for a young artist. The response from the crowd and Mr. Daniels was overwhelming.

May 2019 brought a big addition to the team with the signing on of a new co-manager and producer, Blake Mevis. Blake was a force in Nashville during the 80’s when he was the producer for George Strait, Keith Whitley, Vern Gosdin, and Charlie Pride. Then in the 90’s he produced for Clay Walker and many more. He also was a songwriter and co-wrote George Straits first #1 single, “Fool Hearted Memory”, Joe Nichols #1 single “Brokenheartsville”, as well as numerous other hits for artist like Loretta Lynn, Charlie Rich, Jim Ed Brown, Don Williams, Keith Whitley, Moe Bandy, and others.

In June of 2019, Blake was back in Nashville, setting at the control board of Starstruck Studios producing for Nathan. They cut 2 singles, one of Nathans originals, “Country” and the other one picked out by Blake from a catalog of songs written by proven hit song writers, Harley Allen and Jimmy Melton, “When Your Rock Turns to Stone”.
