Kelly Hoppenjans Biography
Kelly Hoppenjans is an indie-pop singer-songwriter based in Nashville. A charming performer with a sweetly soulful voice, her personal songs reveal her wit and honesty in her own quirky way. Kelly has been singing for as long as she can remember. Her earliest known performance was circa age 4, singing “Hakuna Matata” at home while her parents videotaped. She interpreted the line “It’s our problem free philosophy” as “It’s our problem free… and lots of bees.” And she’s been doing her own thing ever since. Her love of singing led her through opera and musical theatre at Northwestern to songwriting in New York, and finally to Nashville and Belmont, where she earned her Masters in Commercial Voice Performance. Through all these eclectic influences and experiences, Kelly has maintained her unique, indie-pop sound and her wryly optimistic point of view. Kelly’s debut EP, Simple Thing, is due out in September—for a sneak peek, you can check out her video one of the songs, “Bird in a Tree,” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQ10mrJoJiI Singing songs, all day long
