About this concert
The Monocle is thrilled to welcome Erin Bode to the Emerald Room for Cozy Winter Weekend. Erin Bode will bring her mix of talent, sophistication and class to the intimate setting of the Emerald Room.  In the decade-plus since Erin Bode began her professional recording career, she has garnered much critical praise for her pure voice, perfect pitch, and impressive phrasing and style.  It is this talent, coupled with her reluctance to accept classification as a purely jazz vocalist that has led to reviews hailing her as “someone you won’t forget” and comparing her sound to the likes of Eva Cassidy and Nora Jones. While Bode got her start singing standard jazz, her recent projects feature original material by the artist, and showcase her love of poetry with songs that are rich in harmonic and timbral texture.  Bode’s latest release, Here and Now, is a collection of songs by the master songwriters of the Great American Songbook, replete with clever melodies and witty lyrics. The Erin Bode Group creates music forged from the Americana of its members’ Midwestern roots, infused with jazz grooves and made magic by Bode’s bell-like voice.  Sophisticated arrangements and attention to phrasing, both vocal and instrumental, further distinguish the band’s fresh sound!  Showtimes are at 8pm and 10pm on January 18 & 19. The Monocle Bar Opens at 6:30pm. The Emerald Room will begin seating at 7:30. Come early to grab a delicious special! Sponsored by Pinckney Bend Distillery. Tickets will be $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Erin Bode Biography

Vocalist Erin Bode (pronounced BOH-DEE) has a beautiful, crystal clear voice that is too exquisite to miss. She has consistently won over audiences with her sweet personality and sincere performances. Her distinctive repertoire and crossover appeal - evoking comparisons to Eva Cassidy and Norah Jones - have proven equally at home in grand venues or relaxed clubs.

On her MAXJAZZ debut, Don't Take Your Time, Erin performed her personal take on tunes from the Great American Songbook, pop classics, and her first original song, "Don't Take Your Time." On her new album Over and Over, she adds more original songs and arrangements, further developing her own unique sensibility.

The Erin Bode Group have performed nationwide at venues such as Blues Alley in Washington D.C., Zanzibar Blue in Philadelphia, and at Sweet Rhythm in New York. They have also been in Europe twice, touring in Italy.

They have also opened for legendary Supremes' singer, Mary Wilson; for Michael Buble at St. Louis' newest premiere venue The Pageant; with Macy Gray on the steps of the Gateway Arch; and for Jamie Cullum at the Sheldon Concert Hall.

In late 2006, they traveled to South Africa to work with the Themba Girls' School Choir. Most recently, Erin performed with Garrison Keillor on A Prairie Home Companion at the Fabulous Fox.
