MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE Biography

While so many of their contemporaries cranked out disposable albums with forgettable repetitiveness, in an effort to meet the demands of the music industry, MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE entered into a willful creative hibernation instead. Like a creature that spins itself a cocoon to evolve into something bigger and bolder, MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE emerge with their eOne Music debut, Vicious World, stronger and reenergized like never before.

Vicious World is equally energetic, driving, dramatic, and cinematic. Each song takes listeners on a moving journey from start to finish, with special care and attention to structure and meaning. Songs like “God of Nothing” and “The Endless” from their previous self-titled album were but the tip of the artistic iceberg, setting MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE toward the darker and more ambitious path that culminated with album four.

The core duo of founding vocalist Matthew Hasting and longtime guitarist/songwriter Robert Bloomfield, who appear together on every MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE album, now usher in a brand new era of the band forged in ambitious artistry and deliberate focus. They’ve combined elements of extreme metal and the punk-and-pop-infused mash-ups present on the Warped Tour and Mayhem stages with their own signature flavor, a product of their disparate geographical locations, unique background, and point of view.

Since their formation over a decade ago in Madison, Alabama, MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE has worked with nearly ever A-list metal/metalcore/hardcore producer in the game. Unbreakable (2008), their debut studio album, was produced by longtime scene kingmaker Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, Of Mice & Men, The Devil Wears Prada) and mixed by Killswitch Engage guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz (As I Lay Dying, Underoath, All That Remains). The band’s blistering follow-up, Lost Boy (2010), was helmed by Matt Goldman (Anberlin, Underoath, Haste The Day) and mixed by Jason Suecof (Trivium, Motionless In White, Demon Hunter). Their eponymously titled set MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE (2012), which saw them clearly defining their own sound with power and confidence, was produced and mixed by Zeuss (Rob Zombie, Hatebreed, the Acacia
Strain).

Atmosphere, heaviness, and the giant creepy, yet poppy, vibe of Korn or Marilyn Manson all collide with the signature hardcore infused extreme metal sound that has always driven the band. Fans of Slipknot and Five Finger Death Punch will connect to these songs, while a sustained dive beneath the surface reveals depths previously uncharted.

MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE dabble in everything grunge, EDM, hip-hop, mainstream metal, and hard rock, cannibalizing the brightest spots of the seemingly contrasting genres, warping them, twisting them, and creating something inventive and fresh within their sound. Simply put, MYCHILDREN MYBRIDE has created the band its members wanted to hear. Vicious World is the sound of a creative entity in full command of its ambitions and experimentation, alternately catchy and inviting yet dense and thought provoking.

Vicious World is an astounding work of art, more than worth the five-year wait.
