Mint Biography

There is more than one artist with this name:

1) Mint is a Belgian band, founded in 1999. The band currently consist of Erwin Marcisz (vocals, guitar), Steve Janssens (guitar), Phil Marcisz (bass guitar), Kim Windmolders (keyboard) and Tim Claes (drums). Typical for their style is simplicity and attention for melody. (more below)

2) MINT is an alias of electronic artist Murray Fisher, co-owner of independent UK label Boltfish Recordings. His style is warm electronica and IDM, featuring on a range of labels including Ministry of Sound, Rednetic, Kahvi, Duotone, LacedMilk, ClickClickDrone and others.

3) Mint is an alias of Wolfgang Voigt, electronic musician from Cologne, Germany.



1) Mint

1999: Erwin, Phil, Steve and Kim hook up with each other
to form MINT. The band plays in the finals of Limbomania (the biggest local talent contest).

2000: Tim joins Mint and completes todays line-up. Mint enters Humo's rockrally (Belgiums biggest rock talent contest) and gets to the finals. During the summer of 2000 Mint plays at a series of Belgian festivals (Suikerrock, Teutrock,...).

2001: Mint records and releases a first DIY-single called'Slim fit plan'. Their second single 'Half-lit cigarette' gets picked up by national radio station Studio Brussels. Mint hooks up with Monza on their club-tour.

2002: Mint gets prepared to record their debut album.

2003: Mint records their debut album with producer Peter Crosbie. The band signs a record deal with GreenLFant records. Single 'Dragon's lair' gets airplay on Radio1, PureFM, Stubru and KinkFM. 'Dragon's lair' gets to N°1 in KinkFM's Outlaw-41-list.

2004: Official album release 'Echoes from the engine room' on februari 17th. 'Echoes...' gets excellent reviews in the press. Second single 'Glow (effervescent)' gets lots of airplay and ends up at N° 8 in Stubru's Afrekening.
Gigs at Pukkelpop, Marktrock, Dourfestival and many other festivals.

2005: 'Echoes from the engine room' to be released in France, Switserland and the Netherlands. Mint records their second album with producer John Morand (Sparklehorse, Cracker, Sukilove,...)

2006: Second album 'Magnetism' is released on 02-02-2006. The first single from the album ('your shopping lists are poetry') gets tons of airplay on Belgian radio and ends up at N°3 in StuBru's Afrekening.

In april 'Magnetism' is released in the Netherlands and in the US and Canada (on Funzalo records). 'Magnetism' gets picked up by various college radio's throughout the US. In the Netherlands 'your shopping lists are poetry' ends up in the top-10 of KinkFM's 'outlaw 41'.

Second single 'the magnetism of pure gold' is currently being played in high rotation on StuBru and PureFM.
