About this concert
An evening of eclectic, contemporary folk as Charlie Dore, widely held to be amongst the UK's finest singer-songwriters, teams up with multi-instrumentalist Julian Littman of Steeleye Span fame, with whom she has been friends since the age of sixteen.
Her songs, an eclectic collection of genre-defying musical styles which she describes as 'borrowed from folk, country, Django Reinhardt and the Beatles', are knowing, worldly, delicate, born out of wisdom and the desire to share it, and consider life in all its ignobility and riches.
Charlie promises another raid on the instrument cupboard as the pair swap guitars, mandolin, harmonium, ukulele, piano, autoharp and stories, as they showcase the latest album Dark Matter. They'll dip into favourites from the past six albums too and also share some original acoustic versions of hits Charlie has written for others, including George Harrison, Tina Turner and Jimmy Nail. She may even do a new version of her enduring radio classic, Pilot of the Airwaves, if we ask nicely
