Allie Jean Biography
Allie Jean is a folk musician whose first love is singing. She plays guitar, clawhammer banjo, harmonica, piano, ukulele, percussive dancing, and occasionally old time fiddle, mandolin, piano, or whatever other random instruments she finds interesting. Her musical influences include Gillian Welch, Carole King, and The Carter Family.
A collector of folk music from Appalachian fiddle tunes to bluegrass founders to 70s songwriters, Allie is best known for her work with The Whipstitch Sallies (folk/songwriter/bluegrass - Indiana) and Frank & Allie Lee (old time, blues - North Carolina).
Now a single mom, she making a children’s album and online lessons while also developing a repertoire of crowd-pleasing solo material for performing locally at house concerts and concert halls. She has opened for rising alt country/folk stars IV AND THE STRANGE BAND, WILLI CARLISLE, and TODD DAY WAIT.
