Fresno Biography

In the beginning (at 12/04/1999 prolly), this band was known as "Os Democratas", but another band was already called that. Without a name for the band, Lucas (lead singer, guitar) heard the name FRESNO at ESPN and liked it. Since that, the band was called Fresno.

Fresno is the name of a city in California. And also the name of a tree and a river. (and that was the motive for the name of the second cd, O Rio, A Cidade, A Árvore., which means exactly "The River, The City, The Tree")

Friends since high school, Lucas Silveira (lead singer and guitar), Gustavo Mantovani (guitar), Bruno Teixera (bass) and Pedro Cupertino (Drums) started to have their songs noticed through the Internet. They recorded songs only with guitar and voice in a computar mic and released them on the Internet for anyone to download and/or just show it to friends.

In the year of 2001, they released their first EP, "O Acaso Do Erro".

In 2003, the band recorded their first CD in a independent way. "Quarto dos Livros" made success with the musics Teu Semblante, Carpe Diem and Stonehenge.
Then, in 2004, their second album called O Rio, A Cidade, A Árvore came out. This album brought the song Onde Está, the band major hit that even this days finish up the set list at all shows. Was also with this song that the band became known as one of the biggests in the brazilian independent scene.

Already making shows all around the country, in 2006 the band records their third record, Ciano. Still independents, their first single quebre as correntes was widely played in radios, also staying at the MTV Brazil top ten (Disk MTV) for weeks. This CD contains re-recordings of three musics of the first CD. (Teu Semblante, Stonehenge and Sono Profundo).

In october 2006, Lezo (Bruno Teixeira - bass player) leaves the band for private reasons (he went back to Law school). To replace him, the producer of the second Fresno cd, Rodrigo Tavares started playing with them. Tavares is also the singer of a band called Abril

Nowadays, the band has the single alguém que te faz sorrir playing on MTV and on some radios. But they're still an independent band, the biggest of the country.
