Itay Morchi Biography
Originally from Tel-Aviv, Israel, I grew up in a very musical house, my father and my mother were very passionate about music and played a few instruments as well.
I started playing the drums at the age of six I and was honored to study under the direction of the finest musicians and teachers in Israel.
By the age of 15 I got into a great school of arts in Tel-Aviv - Thelma Yellin, there I was studying with Israel's best Jazz musicians and teachers, and of course, I made a lot of new friends.
By 17 years old I was honored to receive a few scholarships and awards for my playing (Berklee College of Music, The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music, NY, Stanford Jazz Workshop, Europafest), and I was very lucky to play in a few international jazz festivals at such a young age.
In 2013 I decided to move to New York City to pursue my musical journey.
I applied for the artist visa, and us lucky to be approved.
Since moving to New York city I've had the privilege to witness my musical dreams become a reality that I live everyday.
I was very lucky to perform, rehearse, hang, record and work with some of my favorite musicians in the world, some of them are – Ravi Coltrane, Tivon Penicott, Tuomo Uusitalo, Mulgrew Miller, Eli Degibri, Doug Weiss, Gadi Lehavi, Cyrille Aimee, Daniel Zamir, Omer Avital, Ofer Ganor, Avishai Cohen, Joel Frahm, David Berkman, Dayna Stephens, Gilad Hekselman, Lew Tabackin, Yotam Silberstein, Peter Slavov, and more...
I really hope this page will help me reach out to as many music lovers all over the world, and will bring many beautiful opportunities.
Much love.
