The Liz “Book Of Birds” Full price: 40 TL (Unreserved) Student: 25 TL 16.11.2018 FRI 20.30 Borusan Music House 20.30 Doors Open 21.00 Concert The Liz is a trio of Liz Kosack - synths, Korhan Liz Erel - electronics, and Liz Allbee - amplified trumpet. They played an improvised set for the first time in December 2014 in the Kim Series in Berlin. After their second concert, the three decided to produce a full-length audio-visual piece, which made use of story-telling, video, puppetry, and stage design. With the support of INM Berlin they developed “Book of Birds” and premiered it at Berlin’s Quiet Cue in April 2016, and shortly after performed the piece at the Moers Festival, Urban Acoustic Tribes, KIMFEST and Sojus 7. In January 2019, they will perform the piece in Bern, Switzerland. “Book of Birds” is the story of transformations and multiples: a maiden Sphinx, Anubis the dog of death, and Oedipus, as narrated by Kathy Acker. Drawing from traditional Greek myth, as well as Cocteau’s “Infernal Machine” and Acker’s “Blood and Guts in High School”, The Liz translates the riddles of the Sphinx into an engine for the musical re-production of resistance, and of subliminal and mythic resonance.
