The Strand Biography

At least two bands have performed under the name The Strand. Coincidentally, both have come from Arizona.

1) The earliest band called The Strand was founded in the mid-80s in Tempe, Arizona by Bruce Connole, veteran of hugely popular Arizona New Wave/Postpunk pioneers Billy Clone and The Same as well as The Jetzons. The Strand were likewise enormously successful on the Tempe scene and regionally, and released a bestselling self-titled debut album in 1987. Connole later went on to form the Revenants and Suicide Kings, among others.

2) Pounding electronic beats and riff driven synth lines dominated with vocals by Dave Strand and Kimberly Brown make up current industrial Arizona based band The Strand. Since their inception in 2000, The Strand has produced three full length CDs, and received massive acclaim from promoters, journalists, DJs and fans across the globe. Thanks to that momentum, The Strand has secured distribution through Hot Topic and Tower Records nationally. The Strand gets airplay in numerous clubs worldwide and has appeared in a variety of magazines, websites, and movies. Featured on four nationally distributed compilations, The Strand has launched from being a small home-based production into the ears and eyes of industrial fans across the globe. The Strand has supported several national acts, and performed on the main stage at Convergence 11 2005, as well as the Dark Arts Festival in Salt Lake City 2004.

The Strand does not take the conventional techno approach when bringing the music to a live scenario. Instead, a majority of the music is performed live with a drummer, four keyboardists and two vocalists. If you have not seen a live performance by The Strand, it is really something to consider checking out. Currently The Strand is booking shows and hard at work on their next CD release, slated for late 2006.
