After many years of performing different styles of music, bands and stages... with a quest for a rhythm and a musical style that would be unique and challenging, Deseo Carmin is finally formed.

Deseo Carmin interprets favorite Latin American and original songs with a style that is unique as well as energetic. Bringing the traditional sounds of the flamenco guitars along with electric percussive sounds, Deseo Carmin proposes unexpected musical arrangements.

Fusing traditional, modern Latin American and spanish rhythms, Deseo Carmin brings you songs that will not only make you want to dance, but will also dare you to contemplate in it's intricacies.

DESEO CARMIN plays a sultry fusion of Latin/Flamenco/Funk music -"Spanish music with an edge". The band has been mostly performing in the Seattle area for the past 5 for years but their music has already transcended borders as far as Latin America where they currently receive radio play at radio stations in Paraguay and Chile. Throughout the years they have performed at several well-known venues and events such as World Rhythm and Folklife Festivals. Their music has been featured in local radio stations as well as Seattle Channel and KCTS Channel 9’s “Arts Zone”.
They were selected as one of the featured performing artist in the Seattle.gov website and their music featured in "Seattle on Hold". They are proud to have been nominated for a music award in 2011 at the New Music Seminar Artists on the Verge (AOV) project which takes place in Los Angeles, CA. "AOV" identifies the 100 artists most ready to break each year and it’s a great achievement for DESEO CARMIN to have been nominated to this exclusive list from millions of artists throughout the US.

MUSICIANS BIOGRAPHIES

STELLA ROSSI: Guitar, vocals, percussion and professional dancer. Originally from Asuncion, Paraguay, she started her artistic career at the young age of 3. She studied at one of the most important Art Schools in Paraguay were she graduated with a Master’s Degree. At the age of 15 she was chosen to join the National Ballet Folklorico Municipal of Asuncion, Paraguay and became principal dancer. With this Ballet Company she represented her country as an ambassador of the Paraguayan culture in several International Festivals around the world. She initiated her professional singing career as a soprano with the choral group “ Marandu” in Asuncion, developing then through the years as a singer and guitarist with several bands throughout the US as well as in Europe.

ANDRE STOMMA: Flamenco and electric guitars. He studied guitar in several Music Schools in his native Saint Petersburg, Russia and took an interest in orchestra composition and arrangement. For many years he played and arranged for various punk and rock bands, touring through Russia and Scandinavia. Since his move to the United States 1993, he has worked on an array of commissioned works for companies such as Bolshoi Ballet and the Moscow Circus. Aside from being one of the founding members of “Deseo Carmin”, he continues to work on several studio projects, writing, composing and doing post-production for various local and national artists.

FERNANDO ALLENDE: Drums and vocals. Fernando “Pocho” Allende is a Chilean-born drummer, percussionist, and vocalist. He started his musical career as one of the pioneers of South American “beat” music, working with Palito Ortega and Luis Dimas. Fernando learned rhythms from local musicians as he toured throughout Latin America and shared his knowledge when he became the musical advisor to Don Francisco’s “Sabados Gigantes”. He moved to the west coast in 1980 and since then has participated in our vibrant Latin scene.

ADRIAN LIBERTINI: Bass
His music career started in 1986, in Stamford Connecticut. He studied at the San Francisco State University graduating in 2000 with a BA in Music with Emphasis in Electronic Music and Broadcast & Communication Arts. Through stints in a mind-blowing New York fusion group (Helmet of Gnats), a San Diego jam band (Noodle), a San Francisco dotcom groove band (jp*orbit) an experimental cabaret
ensemble (Madd Vibe Orchestra) and a parent-friendly kid’s band (Orange Sherbet), he developed his own sound, songs and has written and composed for his own debut CD “Just Another Day”. He is the newest member of “Deseo Carmin”, bringing his versatility and unique style to the group.

ANTONIO DAVIDSON-GOMEZ: Brazilian and Middle Eastern percussion
He is a percussionist and educator focused on a musical dialogue among cultures. He has studied, performed and recorded in various genres with an emphasis in Afro-Latin, Middle Eastern, and Mediterranean music. As a young boy, Tony was inspired by the drumming in the parks of San Francisco and Berkeley. He has gone on to study percussion in the U.S., Latin America and Italy and performs music ranging from reggae and calypso to jazz, flamenco and various folkloric styles. When not studying and playing music, he is a teaching artist with the Broadway Center and an educator at KCTS 9 Public Television.

DESEO CARMIN ha sido elegido como uno de los mejores grupos de música alternativa en el área noroeste de USA. DESEO CARMIN también ha deleitado audiencias en canales televisivos como lo es la cadena NBC y PBS.
DESEO CARMIN tuvo el privilegio de ser nominado para los premios “AOV” New Music Seminar “Artists on the Verge” en Los Ángeles, California, que los identificó como uno de los “grupos con más potencial de éxito” en la industria musical. La organización New Music Seminar “Artists on the Verge” ha servido de “trampolín de la fama” a reconocidas figuras como Madonna, Billy Joel, sólo por mencionar algunos. Este es un gran logro por parte de DESEO CARMIN, considerando que la elección fue hecha entre un centenar de bandas y solistas nacionales en USA.

Como una de las bailarinas principales del Ballet Folklórico Municipal de Asunción, Paraguay, represento al país como embajadora de su música y danza internacionalmente. Luego inicio su carrera de cantante solista en Asunción, continuándola más tarde como guitarrista y vocalista de grupos musicales de variados estilos en los Estados Unidos y Europa.

ANDREI STOMMA
Guitarrista, compositor y arreglista de DESEO CARMIN. Originario de San Petersburgo, Rusia ha recibido alto reconocimiento en su carrera musical, componiendo y ejecutando en reconocidos grupos de Rock Europeo, incluyendo obras musicales para el Ballet Bolshoi y el Circo de Moscú. Con raíces musicales en el punk/rock/heavy metal, su técnica y destreza, proyecta la energía que hace el grupo único por su sonido.

FERNANDO ALLENDE
Reconocido baterista y percusionista chileno, ganador de premios y discos de oro en su nativo país. Empezó su carrera musical como uno de los pioneros del Rock en Español en Sudamérica, trabajando con grandes artistas como Palito Ortega y Luis Dimas. Su trayectoria incluye el asesoramiento musical del reconocido programa de televisión “Sábado Gigante”. En DESEO CARMIN, Fernando Allende además de colaborar en la percusión, también apoya vocalmente como segunda voz en la banda.

La fórmula por el momento es la de usar temas de latinoamérica en un contexto de rock y flamenco. Nos formamos hace casi tres años en forma accidental, celebrando el cumpleaños de una pianista de jazz rusa. En aquella ocasión apareció André Stomma que venía llegando de San Petesburgo. Como todos los artistas rusos traen una base y técnica increible. Con Stella habiamos participado años atrás en un grupo que imitaba a los Rumba Kings. Yo acababa de regresar de unas vacaciones por el sur de España y venía encendido con el nuevo flamenco. Especialmente lo que estaban haciendo el grupo Katama de la familia Carmona de Granada. También Chano Dominguez me revolvió el naipe con su jazz-flamenco. En síntesis, esa noche se formó el trío. Hay mucha química y energía. Stella es el gancho. Una chica muy sexy y con mucho escenario. Perteneció al Ballet Nacional Folclórico del Paraguay. Su carrera como cantante la inició en Paraguay con un prestigioso grupo coral extendiendolo a Italia, en dónde tambien vivió. Ese es "Deseo Carmín."
