About this concert
Sun-shiny songs thriving on dark themes behind irresistible rhythms. Track Dogs are a four piece based in Madrid but hail from Ireland, the US and UK. Taking their name from the NY subway maintenance teams this closely-knit group of ex-pats have opted for cajón instead of drums and trumpet in place of electric guitar. Four-part harmonies steal the show. "Since 2007 the Track Dogs have been creating acoustic music with a strong Latino accent that also successfully draws in folk, bluegrass, Americana and pop. Kansas City Out Groove follows their triumphant 2016 album, Serenity Sessions, an album so packed with sunshine it could be sold as a vitamin C supplement." Neil McFadyen, Folkradio.co.uk What they're saying about KANSAS CITY OUT GROOVE "Kansas City Out Groove is an album brimming with confident and accomplished musicianship, first-rate vocal performances, and an abundant, utterly infectious, relish of the music itself." Folkradio.co.uk ...genre-busting acoustic music built around folk, Americana and bluegrassan album that will delight established fans and gain them plenty of new ones RNR, magazine July 2018, UK ...based in Madrid and with instruments that include cajon, banjo, ukulele, mandolin and trumpet and, rather obviously Spanish guitar, the quartet serve up a south of the border fiesta exuberance that defies you not to stomp the heels and play air castanets....the groove is most definitely on. Fatea Magazine, UK There's a rare combination of four great players who also have superb voices, creating stunning individual vocal performances and the almost inevitable perfect harmonies...The playing is outstanding, the harmonies are superb and it's joyful throughout; just give it a listen. Music Riot, June 2018, UK ...a delicious Ameri-Latino mix with - for lovers - the following recipe: one quarter Americana, two parts Latino, a hefty dash of strings...Let the summer erupt. The Track Dogs are in, let the summer begin! Feelgood festival music! Keys and Chords, BELGIUM ...a nice melting pot of styles, which have one thing in common: the groove...how special the singing of the four is, across all genre boundaries...this summery album, which is extremely welcome to brighten up your and my bright spring days. Rootstime, BELGIUM Track Dogs grab the listeners by the collars. The dance floor beckons and must be entered. The same floor is on fire within thirty seconds...Track Dogs open the album Kansas City Out Groove overwhelmingly. Real Roots Café, NETHERLANDS ...the adventurous fusion of Americana and folk gets something special with Howard Brown's ubiquitous trumpet. These Track Dogs have unmistakably their own sound, fans of the work of Manu Chao and Calexico undoubtedly appreciate Kansas City Out Groove. Written In Music, NETHERLANDS www.trackdogsmusic.com

Track Dogs Biography

Track Dogs are two Irishmen, an Englishman and an American, (Garrett Wall, Dave Mooney, Howard Brown & Robbie K.Jones), whose artistic name derives from the dark subterranean world of New York’s subway system. If they are still new to you, check out recent releases Fire on The Rails (2020) and Where to Now? (2022) and see why they are so hard to pigeonhole.

Formed in the Autumn of 2006 in Madrid around the eclectic line-up of acoustic guitar, electric bass, trumpet and cajón, over the following 17 years they have added banjo, ukulele and mandolin as well as honing their four part vocal harmonies, now very much an integral part of their “sound”.

Well-established in Spain where they are based, they are surprising music lovers everywhere with “Sun-shiny songs thriving on dark themes behind irresistible rhythms.” After a fortuitous invitation to the Costa del Folk Festival in Ibiza they have teamed up with Firebrand Music in the UK who also represent folk legends Show of Hands with whom they released a 23-track live album, “Dog Show Sessions”, in 2023.

With 7 albums under their belts (9 if you count the two they recorded as Garrett Wall Band 2006-2010) their versatile and accessible style allows Track Dogs to be at home in festivals as diverse as Americana Music Madrid, Electric Picnic (Ireland’s premiere mega-festival), Grand Northern Ukulele Festival, Shrewsbury Folk Festival, Folk Alliance International, SXSW, Cork Jazz Festival or even Trafalgar Square’s Saint Patrick’s Day Super Stage.

In 2023 they played the legendary Royal Albert Hall, made their debut at the equally legendary Glastonbury and capped it off with their 10th album, "Blind Summits & Hidden Dips", which entered the Folk Charts at No. 22.

“We’ve had many bands and artists come through our doors over the years, but Track Dogs are right up there with the very best of them, that much is certain! The connection they make with the audience is something special - smiles are the currency that they deal in with their mesmeric and ridiculously addictive sound. Destined to be huge festival favourites!”
