Drug Bug Biography
Drug Bug began in 2014 as the solo recording project of New York City-based artist and programmer Philip Anastassiou. Since 2016, the project has grown into a full live band, featuring Daniel Durst on bass, Zach Calluori on guitar, and a rotating cast of drummers. Together, they make pop songs that meld jazz-informed, angular rock with expansive, dreamy textures and confessional, mystical lyricism. Drug Bug have toured across the Eastern U.S. with online premieres and features by Allston Pudding, Rare Candy, and The Deli Magazine, which noted "the sheer number of shows they’ve played over the last few years and the mesmerizing beauty of their limited discography." Their forthcoming debut EP, "Holy Moly", was recorded with Matt Labozza at Studio G in Brooklyn, NY and Christopher Daly at Salvation Recording Co. in New Paltz, NY, representing the band's first cohesive articulation of their unique sound.
