Living With Lions Biography

Since 2009, Living With Lions have been making waves around the world with their trademark dynamics and anthem-esque melodies. After releasing their sophomore studio album, “Holy Shit” in 2011, Living With Lions toured extensively sharing the stage with bands such as: A Day to Remember, The Ghost Inside, Metallica, Blink 182, Paramore, New Found Glory, A Day to Remember, The Wonder Years, The Ghost Inside, Madball, Title Fight, Comeback Kid and many, many more.

After the departure of front-man Stu Ross in early 2012, many questioned what that would mean for the future of Living With Lions; Chase, Landon, Loren and Bill did not. "It was a big decision, but not a hard one.. There was so much more we wanted to accomplish as a band" says Chase Brenneman. With founding member, Chase Brenneman moving to lead vocals, and long time friend Craig Spelliscy joining on guitar, the Vancouver five piece hit the began to hit the road once more. With the release of a 3 song EP and stint’s across Europe, Australia, Asia and North America through 2014-2015 the band felt re energized. “It wasn’t a matter of perseverance for us after Stu left, really.” says Brenneman. “We just have fun making music together and playing shows. Why wouldn’t we keep doing it?”.

In 2016, the band went into the studio to begin work on their third effort, “Island”. Recorded by Stu McKillop at Rain City Recorders and mix and mastered by Kyle Black at Alley Studios in Los Angeles, it was a rebirth says Brenneman. “It was the first time since the band formed that we went into the studio without any kind of support. No label, no producer, no manager, no timelines or check-ins.. It was us and our songs.”. Just as things were looking up for the band, their time in the studio took an unfortunate turn. “Out of nowhere, all these health issues started forming.. Loren found out he had two slipped discs while he was recording drums and would require surgery.. About a month later I found out I had a separation in my abdominal wall from singing, which would also require surgery.”. The lengthy delays due to surgeries and the time rehabilitating wore down on the members. “I know everyone was thinking, ‘are we actually ever going to finish this record?’” Stated Brenneman. “There were some tough moments, but we’ve had to deal with so much in the past. I don’t think there was ever really a doubt in any of our minds we would finish the record.”.
2018 will prove to be a big year for Living With Lions. With their new full length album now complete and due out in the fall on No Sleep Records, the group looks to get back to what they truly enjoy the most, playing music together. “It's been a long break, I think we all realize that.” Says Brenneman, as he sums up the recording process. “I know we couldn’t have done it without each other. We’ve learned to lean on one another when things aren’t looking good… Despite all the things we went through though, in a weird way, I know the record turned out better because of it.”.

Look out for “Island” available world wide this fall.
