Emmelie de Forest

Emmelie de Forest represents a true Danish fairytale. All of a sudden, she burst onto the international music scene, winning the Eurovision Song Contest with her song Only Teardrops. Although she did in fact win the contest, she has never been a product designed to do so. Like her name suggests, she resembles a forest fairy – a natural child of the North, barefoot and with a sense of magic about her presence. “I’ve never really liked singing while wearing high heels or any kind of shoes. Being barefoot makes me feel connected to the ground, and it makes me feel more relaxed,” she explains. With her authentic personality and distinct voice, she represents true artistry, and at just 20 years old, she already has more than half a decade’s worth of experience as an artist. Much of this experience has been gained through her collaboration with the Scottish singer-songwriter Fraser Neill. Together the duo performs both their own material as well as innovative folk renditions of songs by artists as different as Nirvana and Johnny Cash.
