Murderbait Biography

From the rain drenched valley of Portland, where star is hidden by coal colored cloud, in a dimly lit room, thick with spore of black mold, the music of Murderbait pervades.

Songs written in such landscapes juxtapose with the beautiful, yet perilous woods surrounding, cannot help but to carry darker chambers of the psyche. Allowing, and even embracing such themes, Murderbait sonically entrances as lyrics explore the forgotten or even avoided spaces.

While the name and imagery prompt thoughts of evil vibrations emanating from a violent underbelly, further insight will reveal that Murderbait's music draws from a galaxy of influences that suggest an heightened expertise that moves beyond the average goth rock trope. Synth wizardry combined with monolithic guitars show also demonstrate Murderbait's ability to toggle between skeletal minimalism and triumphant overtures, sometimes within the space of a single song.

For example, the six minute "It's A Waste" features excited horns and a lo-fi disco beat as a foundation for vocalist Casey Logan's reverb drenched desperations. Likewise, album opener "Exit Strategy" opens with a Spacemen 3 worthy dirge that loosely tumbles into a forlorn dance rhythm plucked straight from the mindset of Birthday Party's halcyon moments.

Creepy Dark Wave, expansive Black Metal and even Post Punk all make cameos within Murderbait's oeuvre as well, and this rich tapestry will prove worthy for any music afficiado steeped in the dark arts.
