Marco Baldassarre

Originally from Italy he started DJing in 2003 in clubs in his hometown Bari; it took only few months before he became resident at H25. Summer 2006 saw Marco move to the UK to develop his music knowledge, experience and contacts. Shortly after his arrival, his fortuitous encounter with Diego Fava – head of cK Family Promotions (event company involved in the UK music scene with one of the most eccentric and quirky weekly after parties in London – DeeSfactory) – lead him to play DJ sets in some of London’s most renowned venues such as The Egg, Light Box, Plastic People and Cable. Furthermore, MB also took part in many of those secret house and techno reunions that tend to fall out of the common clubber’s radar while being populated by those true purists of the scene, supporting luminaires of the house and techno scene such as Dosem Live, Technasia, Lee Jones and Glimpse. Marco’s production skills within the audible sonic frequency spectrum range lead him to work as a studio mixing engineer for UK producers such as TBoy and Splashfunk and procured him a solid reputation among established sound engineers. Marco started working on his own productions in 2009, year in which he also earned his BTEC Certificate in Music Technology.To gain more knowledge and music sensibility Marco decided to take a course and achieved a BA Bachelor Degree in Music Technology at University of West London in 2013. His productions are recognisable by the combination of sounds that are usually typical of different genres – in particular house, techno and minimal – to create steady and uniformly accented beats that spread powerful and emotional energies to audiophiles. Also often characterised by vocal sounds, his deep groovy beats drive inspiration from warm pumping bass lines to improvised variations stemming from melodies of contemporary artists like Mark Henning and Efdemin through to early house and the ‘80s techno scene of Detroit and its European derivatives. In May 2010 Malatoid Recordings released a cK family EP including ‘Parallelo’, Marco’s first single, that attracted excellent feedback worldwide and peaked at number 19 in the overall Beatport chart. Since then Marco has released on Wunderkammer and No-Attitude Recordings, in addition to becoming co-owner and producer of Prozaz Records in 2011.
