The High Beams Biography

Stephen Pappas, Charley Brown, and Richard Goss had no idea that playing together over thirty years ago would lead to THIS!!! We only knew a common love of music and a respect for the proficiency of each other’s musical talents. When we asked Stan Campbell to come out to play, we immediately knew we had just added that key component to form the band we had been searching for our whole lives. The vocal prowess we desire is a little more challenging, and has actually been the defining trait that makes us what we are today. The High Beams miraculously stumbled upon Mac Quillian! With his raspy voice and a soul for the blues, Mac's ability to leave it all on the stage is quite unmistakable! Well… that and his crazy wild blonde hair! Not that Mac isn’t enough… believe me HE IS PLENTY!!! Mixing a little bit of the old with a little bit of the new, The High Beams rock stages for audiences of all ages! Come out and play with us! You will most likely have as much fun as we do. And we have a shot of tequila with your name on it! Richard Goss: Sad story... I got an acoustic guitar for Christmas in the 2nd grade. I took "lessons" from some guy that used to lay out a song on the music stand, tell me to learn it, and then disappear to get "a cup of coffee". Didn't learn much that way. Thankfully, my mom stopped taking me there. And I have been self-taught ever since. Explains a lot about my playing, huh !!! Stephen Pappas :got my first drum set at 13.. been self taught since then.. i was the "drum whore" in high school.. played with everyone..guess they liked my style..now im a 45 yr old drummer looking to ROCK the WORLD !!! ROFLMAO Stan Campbell : Lead and Rhythm guitar and occasional vocals. I have been playing guitar since I was 15 years old. My first guitar was an electric SG copy and an Ampeg amp. My early influences were Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Alvin Lee and Jimi Hendrix. I played with bands in Tampa Florida and here in the Atlanta area. Most recently with 'Dad's In The Basement', 'Gray Sabbath', and the ever popular 'Bruce Hedrick Experience'. Now I find myself rocking with 'The Highbeams'. It is great to be playing with this group of talented musicians. Charley Brown: I took up the cello in the 4th grade, and switched to the bass in 10th grade. I bussed tables and scooped ice cream through my high school years to get my first electric bass, a Peavey T-40, in 1981. My musical influences range from Bach to Black Flag. Bassists who have inspired me include John Entwhistle, Geddy Lee, Kira Roessler, Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, Paul Goddard, Michael Anthony, Bob Babbitt, Paul Chambers and Chuck Rainey. I am the techno-geek of the band, having worked as an audio engineer for 30 years. Amritha Alladi is an Indian-American (dots, not feathers), born and raised in Gainesville, Fla., (Go Gators... anyone?)Growing up, Amritha was trained by her mother in South Indian classical music, alongside a herd of elephants. Along with her love of elephants, she also began to be more influenced by pop stars like Christina Aguilera, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears, Beyonce, and others, and she would often try to mimic their styles (the pop stars, not the elephants). Her young life was often compared to a Bollywood movie, starting her morning by singing in the shower, which would segway into a sing-along number on the school bus—often to her classmates’ annoyance. Although she didn't perform these songs in public, she once competed in her high school's "idol" competition and got first-place-loser (second place) singing Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful," which launched her into the illustrious career in music she enjoys today.
