Merrick Biography
There are more than one Merrick in the music world.
1) Merrick (as comprised of Bryony Atkinson & Inara George):
The band began in 1998, contributing songs to several film soundtracks (The Minus Man, HeartBreakers, Your Friends and Neighbors and Wasted), self-releasing/financing their two CDs and tours.
Their two albums have seen heavy rotation on KCRW by such D.J.'s as Nic Harcourt (Morning Becomes Eclectic), Gary Calamar (The Open Road) and Chris Douridas(Ground Zero).
Inara George has since gone on to pursue a solo career and find fame as part of The Bird and the Bee.
2) Merrick (Bristol, UK)
"Rock" or "Metal", being the broad terms they are, would suit as a genre for Merrick. As a four piece band from Bristol and the surrounding area, they started out with a commitment to playing the kind of music we all want to listen to. It's commonly known that if you play the vast majority of your songs with distortion then there are always going to be comparisons drawn. Merrick are no exception, but they do have their own sound. Think Tool, think Deftones, think dark groove based, melodic, edgy music, then you're in the right ballpark.
