Nique Love Rhodes & The NLR Experience

Nique Love Rhodes is an alternative hip-hop artist and songwriter, record producer, social entrepreneur, and cultural organizer from Detroit, Michigan. She blends hip-hop with funk, rock with jazz, and conscious lyrics with pop hooks and melodies to create a sound that elevates self-empowerment, universal love, and social awareness. Themes in her music range from social revolution and spirituality to mental health awareness, personal reflections, and affirmations that uplift the black diaspora and women. Nique is a lightworker who just happens to rap and rock stages - transmuting darkness into light using her own perspective and experiences to help encourage and inspire others.

For her live show, Nique transforms into a freedom-fighting rocker by leading a multi-faceted ensemble of musicians known as the NLR Experience — creating a high energy, live musical experience a la the Roots meets Rage Against the Machine meets N.E.R.D. to provide positive vibes, elevate social consciousness, and set souls on fire with inspiration. NLR is not only an acronym for “Nique Love Rhodes,” but also “Next Level Revolution” — the idea of inward positive transformation that manifests in positive outward, social transformation. The NLR Experience was birthed in 2013 after meeting at various Detroit open mics and consists of Nique Love Rhodes (vocals), Carlton White (drums), Rod Gaston (bass), Trey Priest (guitar), and Barry Chambliss II (piano/keyboard).
