About this concert
We know that every musician in their right mind can't resist the dynamic power of a Ludwig van Beethoven, but we all know that Beethoven reaches way beyond the musicians' clan. Witness the symphony in the park. When exposed finally to Dirk Quinn Band, we knew immediately that every local musican in their right mind wouldn't dare miss this show, and all the while, Dirk Quinn's melodic sense will work wonders on everyone just out for positive emotions and good times. Column Stage has a particular affection for what we call "driving music" (music that drives and is good for driving). Dirk Quinn Band ought to drive you in here Fri, Sep 28 at 8:30 pm. (For discounted prices in advance of show date, buy on Eventbrite.)\nDirk Quinn is the guitarist for a high energy funk/jazz band based out of Philadelphia that travels extensively throughout the US and Canada. Utilizing over a decade of steady performing, Quinn has developed a unique and progressive style - one that appeals to a wide variety of music listeners with fans ranging from the jam band hippies to the jazz snobs.\nIn 2007 Quinn made his long-awaited recording debut releasing his self-titled CD - "Dirk Quinn". Working the club and coffee house circuit, Quinn became increasingly in demand, playing as many as three gigs a day while getting the occasional call to share the stage with musical legends such as Steve Kimock, Bernie Worell, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Alan Evans (Soulive), Keller Williams, Garaj Mahal, Booker T, Jimmy Bruno, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Kofi Burbridge (Derek Trucks Band), Marco Benevento, Zach Deputy, Jim Weider (The Band), Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Rodney Holmes (Santana), "DreamWeaver" Gary Wright, and Sam Kininger (Soulive) - each performance steadily garnering more recognition for Quinn, who believes in winning fans one by one on the merit of the music.\nIn the last decade, he has released two more CDs, "QuinnTet" and "Live at Home". The band’s infectious energy and musical interplay routinely attract listeners that are admittedly more accustomed to lyric-based music. With great melodic sensibilities, rhythmic experimentation and an accessible modern edge, the Dirk Quinn Band is jazz/funk improvisation at its most exciting!\nThe doors of Column Stage open at 5 p.m. for everyone. Those with a show ticket receive a bracelet. You need "the bracelet" to stay for the show. (Discounts on tickets are available on our website and Eventbrite except Day of Show and except via Facebook.)\nAll seating at this live music event is General Admission (GA) tickets, meaning first come-first serve.
