About this concert
Join us for an evening of classic American Bluegrass and Honky-Tonk with The Vanguards\nThe Vanguards have been active on the London bluegrass and folk scene for the last few years; including headline slots at Fire in the Mountain in Wales and the Westport Folk & Bluegrass Festival in Ireland.\nThe Vanguards are a five-piece traditional bluegrass band based in London. They take their musical inspiration from the originators of bluegrass music. Instrumentally, they seek to create a sound which blends the mandolin style of Bill Monroe, the banjo style of Ralph Stanley and the old-time style of fiddling which typified early bluegrass recordings and which continues to influence the sound of traditional bluegrass bands into the present day.\nMandolin / Jack Baker\nGuitar / Alex Clarke\nBanjo / Chris Lord\nFiddle / Laura Nailor\nBass / Pete Thomas\n"The future of traditional bluegrass is in great hands with the young Vanguards keeping it alive" - Lisa Kay Howard-Hughes, host of Bell Buckle Radio's The Old Home Place and former host of WAMU's Bluegrass Country\n"If you're looking for traditional Bluegrass, then look no further. These guys have it all." - Dave Teague, chairman of the British Bluegrass Music Association\n"I booked them for a gig in the East Midlands and was knocked out by their performance. Check these guys out when they play anywhere near you." - Colin Silcocks, organiser of String Band Boogie
