About this concert
Sydney’s SIMON KINNY-LEWIS BAND launch their brand new album ‘Bad Whiskey’ with special guests Toadvine at The Brass Monkey, Cronulla on Sunday 4th August. The band’s impressive songwriting, soulful vocals, and world-class musicianship is all brought to the fore on this fabulous new release. The album was recorded by Sean Rudd at The Vault Studios in Balmain with Simon - guitar and vocals, Tony Boyd - drums, Rob Ewan - bass, and Shannon Stitt - keys, and features Brett Garsed on slide Guitar (John Farnham Band, T.J Helmerich). With final mixing and mastering done by Simon Cotsworth (Seal, Santana, George Benson), ‘Bad Whiskey’ is destined to have an impact on audiences far and wide, as did the previous album ‘Catfish’ which reached the number 1 position on the Australian Blues and Roots Charts. This band’s own original brand of contemporary blues and rock has created a loyal fan-base of enthusiasts around the globe and led to performance and/or recording opportunities with highly regarded international musicians such as Chris Cain, Anton Davidyants, Nate Ginsberg (Herbie Hancock’s band) Christian Howes, Dwayne Pate (Robben Ford band), Simeon Cain (Henry Rollins band) and more. ************ T.J. Helmerich - (Producer/Engineer for artists Steve Vai, Victor Wooten, and Tribal Tech) “Simon’s releases never cease to amaze me! Love the writing, and the players. Simon’s guitar talents truly shine as he effortlessly navigates through tricky progressions with fire, grace and taste!” Steve Lukather (Guitarist for Toto, Ringo Starr) comments on Simon Kinny-Lewis’s 2016 “Street Blues” album. “Great man. Your voice has a little Bonnamassa in it…which is cool. Love the tune too. KILLER solo! Simon Cotsworth - (Producer/Engineer Seal, Santana, Benson, Ritenour and Simon Kinny-Lewis) “What I look for is timing and performance..and Simon is top on both of those.” Christian Howes - leading jazz violinist and professor at the Berklee College of Music. His artistic collaborators have included Les Paul, Greg Osby, Robben Ford, to name a few writes.... “One of the most soulful guitar players on the planet!”

Simon has a great command on the guitar and vocals along with wonderful songs, teaming up with my friend Robben Ford to make a great, contemporary blues record.”
