About this concert
** Accessibility: the venue is in a basement down a flight of stairs **\nFOUNDLING\nFOUNDLING is an evolution of Erin Lang's musical projects 'Erin Lang & The Foundlings' and 'Feral & Stray'. These projects have been blessed with the creative input of a collective of incredibly talented collaborators. Most recently Marc Stebbing and Erin Lang have come together in Berlin, Germany, to produce the vastest and most detailed collection of songs for the new album titled 'Fault Lines'.\nWith its expansive soundscapes, lush choir vocals and string sections, deep bass and broad synths, it's indie art- pop through a dark lens. Sonically and lyrically Fault Lines traces the ridges of deep canyons and the depths of duality, explores fissures in reality and the geological time maps mirrored in our bodies..\nBoth Lang and Stebbing's symbiotic contributions play strong roles in the album which thematically delves into the nature of duality. In Fault Lines, Lang's intimate and dreamy sound, is met with Stebbing's strong alternative pop sensibility and tendencies to dark heavy bass and rich intricate chord choices.\nThe album features lush vocal layers, recalling 1930's film music, accompanied by orchestral strings by Kristina Koropecki (Agnes Obel) and John Corban. Alongside the thread of nostalgia lies the modernity of the album in the gritty sub basses and synths. This is accentuated by electronic artist David Georgos' (Locoto) contribution of additional synths and programming and influences of artists like Lykke Li, Fever Ray and Björk.\nThe more mellow side of Fault Lines is inspired by 70's RnB and the wistful soundscapes of Vincent Gallo and 'World of Echo' era Arthur Russell.\nwww.foundlingsounds.com\nwww.youtube.com/watch?v=FJjR6hFFtfw\nwww.youtube.com/watch?v=C3CT0AEmIFA\nwww.youtube.com/watch?v=6xDUSdvmdpk\nMEMUM\nMemum is the ambient project of David from Foundling.\nwww.youtube.com/watch?v=gum362X-FxE

Foundling Biography

Foundling is the evolution of native Montrealer Erin Lang’s musical project that has set roots in different countries and weaves together a broad collective of musicians. Now based in Berlin, Lang’s third studio LP ‘Fault Lines’ is set for release 18/05/18.

With expansive soundscapes, lush choir vocals and effects, deep bass and sweeping synths, Foundling makes alternative dream pop through a dark lens. Sonically and lyrically Foundling’s newest work traces the ridges of deep canyons and the depths of duality, explores fissures in reality and the geological time maps mirrored in our bodies.

“If this first single is anything to go by, Foundling’s ‘Fault Lines’ will be a sure-fire hit.”
- Earmilk uk

Foundling worked with Lasse Martin (Lykke Li, Jonsi, Primal Scream) in Sweden on ‘Fault Lines’ and the first single New Years was released in November 2017 with a video from New Motion Films. The video is a movement-based collaboration with modern dancers/choreographers Emilie Morin and Danielle Denichaud, it visually explores the songs themes of soul twins and mirrored lives.

“The first taste of Berlin based Foundling‘s forthcoming album Fault Lines, ‘New Years’ is a dream pop masterpiece.” - Born Music usa

Lang spent the year before making the latest album supporting Danish songstress Agnes Obel on her Philharmony tour, joining her for over 70 shows in Europe and North America at esteemed venues including The Berlin Philharmonie, Le Trianon and Le Grand Rex in Paris and many more as well as opening for good friends and collaborators Timber Timbre in Switzerland, Germany and Spain.

Foundling will be touring through 2018 in support of Fault Lines.
