About Formed in 2002, born of 4 lead guitar players and one lonely drummer, evolved of keyboards on life support, backup drummers, and decoy congas. Sweet Ball Peen will not fit in your tool box! We are Genghis (vocals, guitar), Stetz (guitar) Sean (bass), Cooper (drums) and Jimmy (vocals). Our music is rock & roll, all original, all right. We play Denver venues of many shapes and sizes, delivering our sound that nods to southern rock, funk, and harder influence. In 2006, we recorded a full length live CD and 2009 we released our studio debut, Cover Up. 2014 brought the addition of Jimmy on the mic and 2015 promises new material, many shows, and fresh recordings for your listening pleasure! About the band: Genghis: Greg ‘Genghis’ Young covers lead and rhythm guitars and backing vocals for SBP. He pledges allegiance to the rock gods, particularly Clapton, Skynyrd, Maiden, Megdeth and Al Dimeola. In the early 90s, Genghis was the guitarist for the SF Bay Area rock outfit Pistol Apostle, with whom he enjoyed modest success, and recorded many well-received demos. Genghis joined SBP in 2003 and has been part of the line-up ever since. Stetz: Keith ‘Stetz’ Stoetzer provides the ‘glue’ that holds the music together. Serving up the rhythm guitars for SBP, the occasional lead and some cameo lead vocals, Stetz grinds out the rocking from the get go and never lets up. Broken arms, legs, and bloodied hands are no match for this unstoppable force. Keith is the other seminal member in today’s line up, drawing his style from wide ranging influences…if you had to pick three, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Clutch and The Grateful Dead would be safe bets. Sean: Sean has played in many bands in the rock, country and jam-grass styles for quite a while. Stay tuned for more info about this mysterious wizard of the flat-wound string... Cooper: Cooper, our newest member, hails from CO and has and still does play in many rock, prog rock, and country/jam/grass outfits. He is in command, let's say that, and loves clamps...not what you are thinking! Jimmy: aka Sputnik Slovenia, joined SBP in 2014. The addition of his deftly delivered rock vocal biscuits, otherworldly fronting instincts, and unstoppable zest for the good and fun in life have lifted SBP to new heights. Sputnik also fronts The Pitch Invasion and The Nuns of Brixton, keeping the punk rock flavor flowing for the good citizens of Colorado. Be sure of this: the future is unwritten.
