Colé van dais Biography

Cole van dais is an independent singer/ songwriter from South Africa performing original music, covers and tribute shows.

Colé sings at festivals, theatres, country clubs, and corporate functions. She performs a variety of original songs, popular covers, or tribute shows.

Colé was inspired by her mom, who is visually impaired and can only see 2%, to sing as a way to overcome her shyness. She was discovered by an agent after singing at a wedding booked her all over SA at festivals, schools, casinos, holiday resorts and events singing covers, solo and as part of a girlband doing a Spice Girls Tribute show, a Female Divas show and touring SA and bordering countries as part of the KTV Roadshow, Pepsi Roadshow, Coca Cola Roadshow, Simba and Colé also received sponsorship from Clover.

Colé then adopted a totally vegan lifestyle and decided to dedicate her life to positively influence, educate, entertain and uplift people through music. She went solo and moved to UK in 2002 where she worked for 7 years as a singer, TV presenter, model, actor, body double to the stars and sang lead roles in musicals, production shows and solo performances in England, Scotland, the Isle of Skye, and the Mediteranian Islands and Seychelles.

Achievements:

*Colé has released many songs and Albums independently available to download from major online stores including iTunes & Amazon and from her website www.colevandais.com

*In 2015 Colé was awarded (in collaboration with Gbenga Adenuga from Nigeria) The Voices for Charity Award for Best International Collaboration for the song Molayo (I have joy)

*In 2014, Colé had the honour of being the first South African artist booked as a guest artist at the Eurovision song contest which was held in Coopenhagen, Denmark. She performed at Vega club as a guest artist, along with the contestants from 39 participating countries.

*In 2015 she performed with her favorite stars in The 80s Rewind Festival featuring artist like Katrina & the Waves, Billy Ocean, Cutting Crew, and many more international stars.

*In 2012 her band at the time, Ruby Tuesday, won Battle of the cover bands for South Africa (Rockford Media). They quickly became one of Jhb's top corporate bands performing at Mercedes Benz centre, Carnival City big top Arena (see youtube for videos), Chris Hani Tribute Concert, 20 Years of Democracy of SA concert (Germiston lake) and other events all over Jhb.

*One of her greatest adventures and challenges was the she was selected for the first week's filming of "I'm a celebrity get me out of here" for Australia, filmed in South Africa in January 2015. "We were in the middle of nowhere for a week! We had to survive. This was real! I thought they're going to book us into a hotel and we will just act in the day but they just left us there with no instructions. It was a great experience though, from a life of living in hotels to the jungle. Now knowing I can do it, feels great! ...but no not for me" :-)


Colé has come a long way from starting her career performing at schools and Kids TV road shows in her home country, South Africa, to travelling worldwide and touring Namibia, England, Scotland, The Isle of Skye, Europe, the Mediterranean islands and Seychelles, where she performed in musicals, bands, production shows and as a solo artists.

*Cole is not only a singer/songwriter but an accomplished TV presenter and actress as well. Other than presenting many live beauty pageants and events, she hosted her own live TV show, ‘Mind body spirit’ on SKY TV in 2005/6, broadcasted from London to 183 countries with over a million viewers.

*In 2012 she was selected by the OGAE Rest of the world fanclub, to present The Eurovision 2nd chance competition which was viewed in the 26 participating countries.

*She acted as Prince Harry’s girlfriend in ‘Prince Harry laid bare’ for ITV.

*Colé performing lead roles in musical theatre shows such as ‘Grease’, ‘Cinderella’, and ‘The James Bond Golden Hits Tribute show’.

*Colé has also worked as a langerie model in London for Anne Summers and La Femme; acted in a bizarre art book for Italian photographer, Marco Sanges; and been the celebrity spoke’s model for London Heart radio; while acting a few smaller roles in the film ‘The Conversation Collector’), ‘Ant and Dec’s Alien Autopsy’, Midsummer Murders, The Rotters club and Family Affairs, as well as being a body double to famous stars on big screen films. She recently played a small role in The Last Sacrament.

*Cole is also a voice over artist in both English and Afrikaans with much experience as a radio advert and corporate voice over artist.

Artists Cole has shared the stage with include Conchita Wurst (winner of Eurovision 2014), Basim, Village People, Katrina & the Waves, Wang Chung, Cinema, Face2Face, Cutting Crew, Billy Ocean, Peter Strycher (ex partner of Freddie Mercury), Rushlana (Eurovision 2004 winner from Russia), and many more.

She has performed at 1000’s of events in SA and abroad as an independent artist and more recent started releasing her own music under her label - Colé Music. She sings in a variety of genres including jazz, rock, pop, dance and world music.

Other than performing at most of the major festivals in South Africa and at schools, holiday resorts and corporate functions, Cole performed at The 35th Anniversary of the Idependence of Seychelles (Freedom Park, Seychelles), and in the UK at the Ukkasie festival , Earlscourt festival, Nottinghill carnival (biggest street carnival in Europe) and The Edinburgh festival.

Colé is also a business woman and completed her studies at the Richard Branson Centre of Entrepreneurship (mini MBA) and studied Rock, pop & soul singing at CityLit college (Holborn, London).

She is also certified in healing practices including Reiki Master, Aromatherapy and Reflexology; and has completed workshops on Managing Boards of Arts organisations (SAMRO) and Gender equality (Genderlinks).

Colé is passionate about social responsibility and promotes positivity, respect, love and care by motivating and educating through music.
