After a successful show at the Lobero Theatre in Santa Barbara early in April and before their return tour in Japan May 7-18, the Immediate Family will play The Mint LA. The Immediate Family is Danny Kortchmar, Waddy Wachtel, Russell Kunkel, Steve Postell & Leland Sklar. Doors at 9:30pm l Show 10:00-11:30pm l Tickets: $22 advance l $27 at the door The Immediate Family began life as a studio project, recording Danny Kortchmar’s upcoming CD which features guest performances by James Taylor, Jackson Browne, David Crosby & Michael McDonald. On guitar & vocals, Danny Kortchmar, who has played, produced and written for James Taylor, Don Henley, Carole King, Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, and many more. As a songwriter, Kortchmar has either written alone or collaborated with numerous artists, penning indelible tracks such as Don Henley’s “Dirty Laundry,” “All She Wants to Do Is Dance,” and “New York Minute,” as well as Jackson Browne’s “Somebody’s Baby” and “Shaky Town,” to name a few. Also on guitar & vocals is Waddy Wachtel, the consummate rock guitarist who has played with many of the same artists, including many years with Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards, and the late Warren Zevon with whom he co-wrote and produced a number of hit songs including “Werewolves of London". The Immediate Family also features one of the most recorded & revered rhythm sections in the world; Leland Sklar (Phil Collins, Warren Zevon, James Taylor) on bass and Russ Kunkel (Jackson Browne, James Taylor, Carly Simon) on drums. Their credits would require several more pages. Rounding out the band on guitar & vocals with Danny and Waddy is Steve Postell, a well seasoned touring/session musician who has worked with Jennifer Warnes, David Crosby, John Oates, and many others. Together, the members of The Immediate Family are some of the most recorded, respected and sought-after players in modern music having played on close to 5,000 records, many of them classics in the rock 'n roll pantheon. Their work can be heard on albums from Jackson Browne, David Crosby, Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards, Warren Zevon and many, many more. Together, Kortchmar, Kunkel and Sklar made up three-quarters of The Section, best known for both their studio and live work in support of some of the top selling singer/songwriters and solo singers in the history of music. Collectively, The Section helped define the sound of a generation.
