Chandra Biography
1980's new wave band, fronted by (then 10 or 12 year old) Chandra Oppenheim, backed by 'The Dance'.
The Model Citizens played a party at her parents house and she loved the band and connected with some of the members that spun off to form The Dance, and recorded a 4 song EP circa 1980.
The Dance were a funky disco influenced band and the record was surprisingly good and well received. It included a song about riding New York's subways.
Chandra became fairly popular and did performaces atclubs in New York, was featured in Andy Warhol's Interview magazine and appeared on the TV show Captain Kangaroo.
Chandra has continued on in other musical projects and performances in New York in more recent years.
