New York guitarist and vocalist, Matt Munisteri, joins Zonky at The Bartlett for a special edition of Zonky Night on May 21.
(NOTE: This is the THIRD Tuesday, and we'll be shifting to that date for the occasion.) Join us for a very special evening of jazz and story telling.
The New Yorker called Matt Munisteri: "A present day ironist with a pre-war heart… Munisteri’s own time-warped tunes sit perfectly alongside vintage works by Willard Robison, Hoagy Carmichael, and even…Bob Dylan.”

Matt has been featured on France’s ARTE television, profiled in Downbeat magazine, honored with Acoustic Guitar Magazine’s Editor’s Choice award, and been the subject of several broadcasts on NPR.

"I would bet a dime against a donut, other bands may come and go, but when you hear the Zonky you will want it to stay!"
"Zonky" is a late-1920s song by Fats Waller and Andy Razaf that's all about a dance and a party where people "shake their feet aplenty" and "let their feelings run wild."
The Zonky Jazz Band is a community of jazz musicians in Spokane, WA that loves to play hot jazz and swing from the 1920s to the 1940s, music perfect for dances, parties, concerts, festivals, and more. We've been playing together in various combos since 2007.
The Zonky Jazz Band usually performs as an 8-piece band with a singer, 3 horns, 2 guitars, bass, and drums. However, we can create a variety of combos for any occasion.
We're really excited about music. Especially this music, the music of the pre-War jazz era. We want to share it with as many people as possible, and along the way, we want to introduce you to (or re-acqaint you with) the music of our hometown heroes, the Crosbys (Bing and Bob), Mildred Bailey, and Al Rinker. Yeah, they're from right here in little ol' Spokaloo!
But we don't stop there! We love to play everything from Louis Armstrong to Mary Lou Williams to Slim and Slam to Nat King Cole to Benny Goodman Sextet to Django Reinhardt to the Kansas City 5, 6, and 7s to Fats Waller and beyond. (Did we mention? "Zonky" is a song written by Fats Waller and Andy Razaf!)
We perform a monthly live show at The Lucky You Lounge music venue in Spokane, WA. It's called "Zonky Night." We're also available for concerts, dances, weddings, corporate events, fundraisers, and more. We love to perform for concert-goers as much as we do for lindy hoppers and swing dancers.
