About this concert
July 27th- Roger Hoover- A fearless songwriter and artist, Roger Hoover has distilled the experiences of an American wanderer into songs that illuminate the mysterious worlds and curiosity within each of us. Even in the most desperate times, there is a blush of hope, a glimmer of promise. The darkness underlying Hoover’s compositions over eight albums explore the mysterious religiosity of swirling Depression-era dust storms, as the harsh North Dakota wilderness and of finding work there, the yearning for quiet places far from humanity, Saint John’s contemplative life and brotherhood, and one man’s gratitude for love and the potential inside all of us to change our landscape, songs that playwright Tyler Whidden says, “howl with the voices of the disenfranchised and heartbroken whose ghosts hang like shadows.”\nRoger Hoover has toured and/or recorded with many of the top names in the industry, including Hayes Carll, Shovels & Rope, Cory Branan, Lucero, Charlie Parr, J. Roddy Walston, and more. Hoover is the recipient of numerous Best Americana, Best Songwriter, and Best Guitarist awards from the likes of Cleveland Magazine, Cleveland Scene, and Free Times. In 2012 the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library & Archives invited Hoover to donate his original manuscripts into their archives. \nRoger is truly a Northeast Ohio treasure!\nDoors open at 7:30Music at 8pmPre-Sale tickets- $12/at the Door-$15

Roger Hoover Biography

Roger Hoover is a Southern-born, Ohio-raised singer songwriter whose plaintive brand of songs seem to come from some unknown time and place. These are timeless laments and rambles of a guitarist and banjo player who performs with equal parts impassioned vocals and honest, heartfelt lyricism. Dark balladeer of the Western Reserve.
