Bryce Larsen Biography

Acoustic americana soul artist Bryce Larsen uses live looping to bring his serious guitar chops, powerful vocals, and unique beat boxing style together to create an entirely new take on the “one man band.”

The American Idol alum is known for his ability to manipulate the mood of a room by telling emotional stories with his music, regardless of whether he is playing covers or originals. Bryce sings the hits and cult favorites from every era and every genre and makes it a point to create an experience for his audience in the moment by constantly conjuring new versions of old favorites, connecting songs and building huge soundscapes on his own that are worthy of stadium performance.

Bryce's most recent release, "Here's to You," is a full length, fully produced album that was funded through a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign that raised over $24,000. He used the money to spend three months in Nashville, TN, working with producer Freddy Wall at the legendary Dark Horse Studios. You can find "Here's to You" on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and at any of Bryce's shows, along side a CD titled "best of the Bar," his constantly changing collection of live cover song recordings.

Born in Alexandria, Virginia, Bryce Larsen moved with his family at age 7 to Long Island, NY, where he learned to play mostly through his own compositions, and thus developed a very unique rhythm-oriented style of guitar that is a conglomeration of rock and R&B styles.

During his college years, (he studied at Rutgers University and graduated from the CW Post Campus of Long Island University with a degree in music) Bryce spent almost all of his free time touring as the frontman of the horn-laden rock band Stealing Jane, honing his skills in songwriting (and co-writing), arrangement, production, and performance.

The incredibly popular Fox television show "American Idol" featured Bryce in January, 2010, on the series premiere, and for the first two rounds of Hollywood Week as he finished in the top 90. The show brought him exposure in countless new markets, and also brought his musicianship to a new level as a solo artist.

Bryce Larsen is now a middle school general music teacher, introducing a new generation to the lifelong benefits of music through piano, guitar, percussion and any instrument he can get his hands on. He works to help kids shed the fear of improvisation and trust themselves and each other as musicians.

Most nights, you can find Bryce performing solo with his Martin GPCPA1 guitar. He loves nothing more than to be on stage, whether he is performing covers (that he truly makes his own), or songs he has written which are often compared to the work of Marc Broussard, John Mayer, the band Sublime and Dave Matthews.
