About this concert
We are inviting y'all, those we love most- to join us for our 5th (count that, 5th!!) full length album release. This time for 'Songs From Tin Can Alley'. For the last 4 years we've been hunkering down at the Egress Inn on random weekends, writing and recording "Songs from Tin Can Alley". It all started out as a simple creative writing exercise to get the creative juices flowing. Inspired by the many definitions of "Tin Pan Alley" we set out to create, from scratch, songs reminiscent of Spike Jones, ol time jug bands, and a completely live recording with just a few microphones set around the room. We have all been so inspired by musicians of that time and the fact that before the ages of digital, musicians had to be good enough at their craft to record as a unit in one take. Almost instantly the concept EP's started taking on a life of their own and we discovered as a band that we had a lot to say both in our lyrical content and our musical content that didn't necessarily "fit" the tuba toting, accordion wielding, fist pumping, dance band to ring the end of the world in with that we have become. We now have a full length album and we want to release a very limited amount to all of you! Opening the night: The Reformed Whores! Join musical comedy duo Reformed Whores as they take on the world with their unique brand of "Southern-fried feminism." Katy and Marie belt out Dolly-esque melodies paired with hilariously raunchy lyrics and feminist flavor. They've opened for "Weird Al" Yankovic and Les Claypool, released two albums, and scored over a million views on their YouTube channel. For more information, visit www.reformedwhores.com! EGRESS will be playing two sets. The first set of the evening will be unlike anyway you have seen EGRESS perform while play almost the entirety of Songs From Tin Can Alley. The second set is EGRESS as you know them, head-banging, fist pumping, accordion toting action.

This Way To the Egress Biography

If Tom Waits and Lady Gaga made a musical lovechild it might sound a little like EGRESS. Whether you know them as the “dance band to ring in the end of the world with” or by their “raise your spirit, raise a glass and drop a beat” attitude, EGRESS will leave their mark on you. The six-person troupe cascades onto the stage in an explosion of sound and sight that’s equal parts unruly vaudeville, ebullient world-beat and three ring circus all the while playing an amalgamation of worldly genres that catapults their audience through time and space with unexpected shifts of styles, tempos and time signatures. EGRESS is Taylor Galassi (lead vocals, accordion, piano); Sarah Shown (vocals, piano, violin); John Wentz (tuba, backup vocals); Joe Lynch (trombone, backup vocals); Jaclyn Kidd (guitar, banjo) and Nick Pecca (drums/percussion). Hailing from a wide variety of musical backgrounds with a diverse array of influences, EGRESS crafts intricately arranged audible cocktails which will be sure to make you move. Their rambunctious stage show generates enough energy to light up a city while their genre-bending miscellany leaves the audience wondering what will happen next. Beware: EGRESS’ infectious energy is contagious. After EGRESS you might never be the same, but you will be coming back for more. EGRESS is a tapestry of worldly influences and an alchemy of sounds modern with those of the past.
