Jameson Biography

JAMESON E.P. “NOTHING SURVIVES THE WINTER” OUT ON BLK HEART GROUP 11/8/2011 “When I was growing up in New Jersey, there was this one year where we had an especially bad winter. My friend and I used to say nothing survives the winter that year. It had eventually come to be our saying for anything bad that happened. I wrote the lyrics to the song nothing survives the winter while I was in the hospital with a broken jaw. Having a broken jaw is about the shittiest thing that could happen to a singer so the term definitely applied. Most of the lyrics to the EP was written that week in the hospital while I was high on painkillers so it’s a theme if you will.” Matt Sammartine, vocalist of L.A. based outfit Jameson speaks on the meaning behind the band’s upcoming EP “Nothing Survives The Winter” onBlk Heart Group (No Bragging Rights, Destruction Of A Rose). Clearing two liquor stores of their Pabst Blue Ribbon stock, Jameson recorded the seven track EP at One Light Studios in Las Vegas. The band delivers what they self-deem “American Party Metal” composed of technical arrangements, groove-laden riff attacks and good old fashioned shredding. Prior to “Nothing Survives The Winter”, Jameson dropped their first EP, “Keep The Change” and their debut full-length album, “Down For The Count”, both independently and in 2008. The band remains proud of that last record, but since those “Down For The Count” days, the Jameson sound has evolved. According to Matt, the progress is rooted in more than just the technicality of their sound. “We all have gotten a lot better. Everybody has the ability to put their personality into each song now. The brutal honesty really comes through.” Completing the Jameson lineup is Dan Ranada (guitar), Ben Robbins (guitar), Jason Brennan (bass) and Chad Keith (drums). The quintet formed about four years ago, when NJ native, Matt, moved out to Hollywood. Named after the Irish whiskey, Jameson has since done five tours predominantly through the west coast and has shared the stage with such artists as All Shall Perish,As Blood Runs Black,Animals As Leaders and Circle of Contempt. Jameson are also touring champs with their Warped Tour Ernie Ball award in 2007. With a new E.P, several shows and a full-length album under their belts, the diehard Pantera fans are gearing up for their first release via Blk Heart Group. Jameson and Blk Heart Groups’ Alex Medick met in an unconventional fashion. Matt, who was unaware of Medick’s profession, shared some of Jameson’s music with him at a friends apartment during a party. The five-piece band hopes to continue their relationship with the label, after “Nothing Survives The Winter” drops. Matt says the band is “planning on putting a brand new full-length album out by next year also on Blk Heart; if all goes well.” More info:http://www.jamesontheband.com Digguh-digguh, djent djent, glug-glug, yap yap, widdly-wah and cutting steak.
