Kayla Schureman

“Kiss the Ground,” the first full-length album from Kayla Schureman is a windows-down ,whatever the weather, drive through the Americana soundscape. Subtle nods to artists like Ryan Adams, Jenny Lewis, Jason Isbell, and Kathleen Edwards abound, but the songs are fresh, focused and pulling their own weight. At times dark and desperate, each track still glistens with the hope of the great wide open, territory that Schureman narrates and navigates with one eye on the rearview and her foot on the gas. A little bit country, and never short on rock and roll, the album tells a story that’s there and back and gone again with plenty of guitar along the way.

Kayla, born and raised in the San Fernando Valley of California, now lives and performs in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania.
