Malcolm Rivers Biography

MALCOLM RIVERS from Münster, Germany are far from being a typical hardcore band. Although they’re deeply rooted in this genre, the five friends like to look in various directions: Elements from all nearby (and more far off) genres have left their marks on the music. Whereas this doesn’t mean that the songs tend to be arbitrary, it’s more that the unique musical identity can be recognized at any moment – which is also the case for Malcolm Rivers, the protagonist of the movie ‘Identity’, who the band was named after.

After two self released EPs ‘Karmageddon’, MALCOLM RIVERS’ first album, is ready to be introduced to the world. The concept album takes a look on the theory and consequences of karma from different perspectives. Lyrically linked songs, textual repetitions and the hourglass as a symbol for the remaining but running out time that’s left to rethink our own actions and change them – with these ingredients the band creates the foundation of this diverse and fresh album.

Despite all seriousness that is comprised in the music of MALCOLM RIVERS, there is mainly one thing that their live shows provide: Entertainment. However what you’re searching in vain at their shows are choreographies and a fake tough-guy attitude. The joy of making music, faith in friendship and a great portion of self-mockery are the basis for an authentic and energetic show. On stage MALCOLM RIVERS have been able to impress the audience as support for DARKEST HOUR, BURY TOMORROW, FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND or CONTINENTS
among others.

MALCOLM RIVERS are consequently refining their sound and bring original and captivating songs to life, that are pushing the boundaries of hardcore and can be located somewhere between (post-) hardcore and metal with partly cinematic or electronic elements – not a typical hardcore band.
