DOUG HOYT Biography
Doug Hoyt has released the EP “When Tomorrow Comes".
Doug Hoyt formed Spilled Milk in March 1995.
Doug Hoyt dropped the band name in January 2011.
The trio toured America and Canada in 2009 and 2010.
Upon returning to Bangor in October 2010 the band recorded the EP “When Tomorrow Comes” with Steph DuFresne
Hoyt's former label refused to issue a “greatest hits” album as a follow-up to the single “Family Roots” which was released in the spring of 2007.
In the winter of 2008, Hoyt and the band played every gig they could and found themselves ramming around New England and making their first of many trips to Maritime Canada. Spilled Milk were playing more gigs to packed bars and college pool rooms than most bands do in a lifetime. With many miles under their collective belt fans joined the effort as live audio and video bootlegs began popping up all over the internet.
Meanwhile, bar tenders, wait staff and flight attendants were taking notice and sharing the bootlegs of live shows.
In December 2009 the band demoed 4 songs from a live recording made at a New Year’s Eve party at Peer’s home with DuFresne at the lo-fi helm. Her ‘no nonsense, hit ‘em hard’ approach to song arrangement and production, jived well with Spilled Milk's three chord smash up's.
In June of 2010, the band scheduled two days in a Bangor studio and recorded the single “When Tomorrow Comes”, and 3 other tracks. At the same time, the band was preparing for a very busy summer of shows, a late fall mix and mastering session in Nashville and an winter release of a 7" EP.
This is an artist that grew up watching concert movies of The Who and Led Zeppelin and has a vast vinyl record collection!
As the band ushered in 2011 at an outdoor stage in Bangor, Hoyt yelled, “It ain’t pretty, but we're having fun, right?" The mob screamed "YEAH!"
Hoyt took off his guitar and gently tossed it into the out stretched arms and disappeared into the flurry of snow that briefly enveloped the stage.
As America searches for what is left of its’ soul, Hoyt is poised to bring on the noise and provide a few hours of over-the-top antics for every stage surging music freak who lives for love and rock’n’roll.
