Larkham and Hall Biography

Americana songwriters Sarah Larkham and Elliot Hall create bittersweet, beautiful music with country elements, taking their influences from American folk, country and blues artists such as Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell and Johnny Cash. Together they layer harmony vocals onto thought provoking, poetic lyrics, all woven through with sparkling guitar, country style mandolin and emotionally charged harmonica.
Their thoughtful, deep and dark Americana has a lyrical intensity rarely seen in these times. Brooding singer songwriter Elliot Hall writes about 'laudably unsexy subjects such as drug addiction, homelessness and prostitution, all imbued with a rare honesty and passion' (Anna Britten Venue Magazine), winner 2012 Bristol songwriter of the year, 'Breath taking and awe inspiring' Alex Lee Thompson NME, and is joined by artist and fellow singer songwriter Sarah Larkham ('an astounding voice' Laura Rawlings BBC Radio Bristol 'achingly soulful' Bristol Folk Festival) with her narrative songs and a rare blend of confidence and vulnerability often compared with Joni Mitchell. Together they weave haunting harmonies, their guitar and mandolin creating the perfect undulating music for their often melancholic, well-crafted lyrics, Sarah's country-edged voice complimenting Elliot's bourbon-soaked, rough tones. Their new album 'songs of hurt and healing' brings together stories of betrayal, war, desperation and hope, salvation and love. 'Fans of poetry, folk and rock should pay attention' NME.

Emotional, heartfelt, honest music in the country-folk tradition, and words that will stay with you for a long long time.
