Ailish Corbett Biography

Violinist, violist, artist

Ailish is a freelance violinist, violist and vocalist.
She frequently played with the Alex Whorm's Band, www.AlexWhorms.com

Ailish loves playing weddings and special events, and she can be booked for consultations by emailing her at AilishCorbett@gmail.com. She can be booked as a solo act, or with the lovely pianist and singer, Alex Whorms www.alexwhorms.com

Ailish Corbett is an energetic and versatile violinist, violist and artist. She earned her Batchelor of Music from McMaster University on viola in 2018, where she studied with Elspeth Thompson of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. She also holds a Batchelor of Fine Art from McMaster University, where she discovered her love of performance art and sound sculpture.

Ailish has performed across Ontario with many acts. She is particularly proud of her work with The Alex Whorms Band, and played on the EP, “Our Lives,” which has received airplay on several community radio shows. She enjoys recording session strings with bands and performing music at weddings and other special events as well as appearing in several music videos with local bands. She has performed with several ensembles such as The McMaster Chamber Ensemble, as a soloist in the McMaster University Choir on violin, Sinfonia Ancaster, The Hamilton Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, James North Chamber Ensemble to name a few!

In addition to performing, Ailish also teaches violin, viola, piano and music theory at The Music Stand as well as maintains her own private music studio. Her students consistently receive high marks on their Royal Conservatory exams. She believes that music education is a human right, and that all people young and old have the ability to create beautiful music. She is a passionate advocate for arts education, and is a co-coordinator for the annual, “Rock the Garden,” event benefiting youth in the Bobolink Hamilton Housing Survey.
