About this concert
We're back for another round at Dick's Tap & Shake Room, and we CANNOT WAIT to rock with you all again! Very excited to have Chad Lehr on board as well. See you soon!THE HOST COUNTRYThe Host Country’s genre experimentation puts them in a category of their own. Their music is a fusion of folk, rock, and blues; a mix of raw and vulnerable, all combined with hauntingly passionate chord shifts. Dual writing credits between Ty Wistrand & Diana Weishaar put forth versatile songs that are evocative, intimate, and full of soul. Tom Rue (bass) and Ethan Weishaar (drums) carry the bottom end, and they recently brought in Michael Lovan on guitar to complete the 5-piece. The group's musical storytelling and engaging live performances are not to be missed. COURTNEY KRAUSECourtney Krause's thought-provoking style of writing not only encompasses the longing heart of a singer/songwriter, but it also speaks to the varieties of circumstance faced in relationships, communication, and honesty. Modernizing classic country, folk, sultry soul, rock and rhythm, the songs create a dialogue where both sides of the story are told. The latest record (digitally available Spring 2018), "Tie Your Tongue/Bite Your lip," is a 10 track album focused around the importance of difficult conversations after allowing thoughts to manifest themselves in the most authentic of moments of communication and vulnerable expression. CHAD LEHRWe have all been that guy or gal driving home alone at night when a song comes on, maybe we know it, maybe we don't, but in those 3:30-4:00 minutes, we feel safe. Safe in our pain, safe in our hope, safe in our understanding that things won't always be like this bad/good thus causing us to cherish that moment, and if we can't...we simply start the song over. Sometimes over and over again. Chad Lehr just want to be the song you want to play over and over again.

Courtney Krause Biography

Lyrically driven songs showing genuine depth and emotion, in an honest conversation...

Courtney Krause's thought-provoking style of writing not only encompasses the longing heart of a singer/songwriter, but it also speaks to the varieties of circumstance faced in relationships, communication, and honesty. Modernizing classic country, folk, sultry soul, rock and rhythm, the songs create a dialogue where both sides of the story are told.

The well-received freshman album, "Thoughts and Sound," homes lyrically driven songs that bring the listener into the genuine moments of memories and ideas that take place in the mind. The tracks are thoughts, the album as a whole is sound, and together they are a conversation about relationships, understanding, and humanity.

The latest recorded (digitally available Spring 2018), "Tie Your Tongue/Bite Your lip," is a 10 track album focused around the importance of difficult conversations after allowing thoughts to manifest themselves in the most authentic of moments of communication and vulnerable expression. The album roams down hallways, waits in doorways, and carefully creeps through rooms of conversation in a metaphorical house of our memories and words we wish we would have said.
(Iowa Public Radio has aired 6 songs off this record – more than any local record to date.)

"The songs show genuine depth and emotion, but the true star of the album is Krause's voice, which is gorgeous and reason enough for a couple listens" - Chad Taylor, Cityview

Most recently from Des Moines, Iowa, Courtney Krause's music has been featured on KCWI 23, KCCI 8, Iowa Public Radio (IPR), and KFGM Homegrown. From events like Des Moines Music Coalition's Little BIG Fest to annual volunteering at Race for the Cure, Women Helping Women, and JDRF, Krause has significantly contributed to the musical growth in Des Moines; at the same time, bringing people and music listeners of all ages and backgrounds together.

In 2016, Krause was added to 80/35 Music Festival lineup, after the song "Hardwood Floors" was selected for Carpe Diem III and the song "I Understand" was used to be chosen for the 2016 Community Selected Artist for Des Moines Music Coalition's Gross Domestic Project. In 2017, she was named "People to Watch" by The Des Moines Register and is expecting to release a new album before the end of the year.
